Charlie Chan is a frustrated photographer and itinerant Cancer Surgeon (www.yourbreast.co.uk) from Cheltenham in the UK. Away from treating people with breast cancer and melanoma, he indulges his passion in photography (along with music, rugby and motorsport).
At work, he likes to embrace the spirit of his patients. Likewise in his photography, he tries to capture the moment. He came across his first Leica (M6TTL) in the 1990s and has never looked back. Now he shoots with his M9 and M2 as well as his S(006).
His pictures have been used by the BBC, The Science Museum in London, Cheltenham Jazz, Science and Literature Festivals, the Wellcome Trust, Cornbury Festival, The Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh University as well as artists such as Wilko Johnson, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Python Terry Jones, Georgie Fame, Madeline Bell, Imelda May, The Standard Lamps, Dona Oxford, Tony O'Malley, Pete Cater, Ruthie Culver & Ronnie Scott's.
Always one for horizon gazing, he is now planning his retirement career as a photographer. Just don’t tell his patients!
